Culinary Adventures!

A part of my culinary journey includes experiencing foods in and from other countries. One of the truths that I learned many years ago while traveling, is that FOOD IS A UNIVERSAL LANGUAGE. I know that I am not saying anything revolutionary or new, but I have experienced this truth time and time again!

Over the years in my travels, I have had many conversations with folks sharing recipes, and likes and dislikes of dishes. Some of these conversations have been in broken English; sometimes just being able to point to the food to make myself understood. These interactions have always been fun and rewarding! One can always talk food…….

Well, over the last couple of months, I have been on two amazing culinary adventures. I was in Italy for 11 days, eating gloriously. A month later I had the wonderful gift of spending 5 full days in New Orleans, eating fabulous Creole and Cajun food. From beignets to charbroiled oysters that were out of this world. When a beignet is hot and fresh, it is truly wonderful. The reputation is well deserved!

I love trying different cuisines and dishes. THE ENTIRE WORLD OF FOOD, is my favorite hobby. One of my favorite things to do when traveling, is going to supermarkets in cities or places that I am visiting. I love to see what other people are eating. In restaurants where there is an open kitchen, I will watch cooks do their thing watching them cook! I often time stop in front of a bakery window, not to purchase anything, but to see the artistry and skill involved. I just love to see this creativity…..

LIFE CAN BE A CULINARY ADVENTURE ON A DAILY BASIS! THE GIFT OF OPPORTUNITY IS ALWAYS THERE…. TAKE ADVANTAGE! IT IS SO FUN!

  1. Hi Jackie! Did you have the charbroiled oysters at Drago’s? Great! I had the best fried chicken ever at Dooky Chases’s restaurant – historic old restaurant off the beaten path.

    1. Yes to both! Drago’s was amazing and Dooky Chase was such a pleasure with such an amazing civil rights history!
      We love New Orleans!
