Have you ever been to New Orleans? This is a city of amazing food and glorious cuisine! I had the wonderful opportunity a few months ago, to visit this city again after maybe 25 years….
I forgot what a vibrant, fun, bustling place that New Orleans is…… So much to do and see. We heard lots of great jazz and other types of music; all for free! A visit to the Jazz Museum in the French Quarter ended in an hour concert of 5 extremely talented musicians playing interesting jazz, mixed with African beats and drumming…. mesmerizing…..
Now for the food! As mentioned in a previous blog, we ate charbroiled Oysters. I also ate lots of fried oysters, which is a New Orleans favorite! The charbroiled oysters were at Drago’s Seafood Restaurant. I have never eaten anything like it! They were absolutely fabulous! Drago’s was correctly recommended by several people. We did try charbroiled oysters at a different restaurant (not mentioning names), which did not even come close to the fabulousness of Drago’s oysters!
Of course, I came back with a few different bottles of creole seasoning to begin my exploration of this cuisine. I did manage to make pretty decent shrimp creole using the mild seasoning…. One can purchase same seasoning with more heat in it. I like flavor, but not a lot of heat in my food.
New Orleans is a great destination for foodies who want to eat amazing fabulous food, whether it be grits and oysters for breakfast, or charbroiled oysters for dinner! Not to mention the best fried chicken, beignets, pecan pie, etc…..
