Aux Merveilleux de Fred is one of my favorite dessert spots in NYC! This successful bakery was started by a French pastry chef from the North of France, by the name of Frederic Vaucamps; opening in 1997 in France.
There are 14 locations in France alone. Other locations are in the United Kingdom, Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, U.S., Canada, Japan, and the Czech Republic.
Obviously this little treat is extremely popular world wide! Wikepedia states that the Merveilleux is “sandwich of two crispy meringues, a mousse filling and coated in grated chocolate.”
Merveilleux de Fred has two locations in Manhattan! One is on 8th Ave. in the West Village, and the other on 38th St. and 6th Ave. near Macy’s.
I personally love anything meringue! I love the crispy texture, the lightness and airiness of it; …..so when I first saw this bakery in Manhattan, I fell in love!
Merveilleux de Fred not only makes these little treats in two sizes, the bakery creates this dessert with 5 different flavors of creams and coatings! Go check this gem of a dessert out! You won’t be disappointed!
