How much do I love Korean Fried Chicken? Let me count the ways…….
I absolutely love Korean Fried Chicken! There are several places in NYC to partake of this lovely food…. and there are more are popping up daily! Being gone from NYC for 7 years and returning; I have noticed new food trends…. Korean Fried Chicken happens to be one of them!
This up and coming food item has an interesting history. Korean Fried Chicken became popular in Korea during the Korean War. American troops were stationed there between the late 40’s-early 50’s. On one Thanksgiving, there was only chicken, no turkey. To celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday, the Americans decided to fry the chicken. They shared it with fellow Koreans. This was the beginning of the love affair with Korean Fried Chicken!
My favorite place to devour this delectable treat is PELICANA, on Metropolitan Ave in Forest Hills, Queens. I just ate there today! I have been looking forward to this for weeks, and finally got it.
PELICANA never disappoints! Soy sauce garlic is the flavor that I recommend! There are several locations around NYC. I have eaten at two so far. One in a food hall on 32nd St, and the other in Forest Hills. So far, Forest Hills is my fav……… which one is yours?
