My latest Culinary Adventure has been to research, locate and eat in some of the Food Halls in Manhattan. I almost cannot keep up with the number of halls around and ones that are opening! I have lost count….
Food Halls are really fun because they offer folks the opportunity to choose from different venues. You can dine with friends and each one of you can have something completely different!
Some Food Halls offer different ethnic cuisines from around the world;; some Halls offer foods from a specific region. For example, there is a Food Hall with all Singaporean food called Urban Hawker.
I don’t know how and when Food Halls became “the thing” in NYC. One thing that continuously strikes me when I visit these places, is that these are the PERFECT place to just hang out! The dining and seating areas are large and definitely welcoming!
One can eat a whole meal at a table leisurely alone or with folks, or have a cup of coffee, or ORDER NOTHING AND STILL SIT LEISURELY! I can think of nothing better to do on a rainy day, then to go to one of these Food Halls and just people watch! Or have your next business meeting…..You don’t have to spend much money. Or, have access to clean bathrooms which are sometimes hard to find in NYC; that you can use anytime without having to buy something!
The Food Halls are one more reason why NYC is the most fun, welcoming and ever expanding city for Culinary Adventures! Check themout for yourself!
Manhattan has created so many places for folks to be outside and be able to sit. There are tables and chairs available in these locations. Times Square has outside seating; 34th St outside Macy’s has seating. These are just two examples; there are many more.
This is a big change for NYC! I grew up here. The City was not this inviting in my opinion. I LOVE THE CHANGE! It is great to see folks being able to eat their lunch outside if the weather is good…. the little gifts in a work day…..
The Food Halls are one more part of making NYC the most fun, welcoming and ever expanding city for Culinary Adventures! Check the out for yourself!
