BREAK BREAD:BREAK ISOLATION

Post Pandemic Isolation.….

As we all continue to break out of our Post Pandemic Isolation, I fear that lots of folks are struggling with how to enter back into our big ole world! We all spent so much time and effort getting through the Pandemic. WHAT A STRANGE TIME AND EVEN STRANGER EXPERIENCE!

I have become aware and concerned how much more our society has become isolated; DISCONNECTED is the way that I think about it.

Loneliness is a difficult place to live in emotionally. As a retired trained Social Worker/Clinician, with many years experience of talking with unhappy people; I am acutely cognizant of the effect of loneliness, on humans. This includes mental health, desires, goals; etc. Everything in life is impacted negatively…..

I thoroughly believe! that Breaking bread with others is a way to begin to combat loneliness, The COMMUNAL EXPERIENCE of cooking together, creating the meal, then eating together… might just create real emotional connections and bonds! Food is sustenance for life. and so is CONNECTIONS WITH OTHERS.

Cooking for yourself is an act of self care and self love. To share food with others is to share the love and caring…. FOOD IS LOVE FROM THE HEART!

There will be more to come on this……..

  1. Dear Jackie

Hello from the UK and many thanks for your post, well said. I said to my wife the other day that to eat alone all the time is very hard and one should be able to eat with someone once a day at least.

    Kind regards

Thanks so much for your kind words….I completely agree with your idea! If we could only figure out a way to do this for folks; what a blessing it would be! Jackie
